Social networking has affected society in many ways. For me, being in high school, social networking has played a big part in my life. Facebook has helped me keep in contact with my family living in the Philippines. I've sent video comments to my family which really has helped me keep a close connection with them. Twitter is really a great way to communicate. Simply put a phrase or question under 140 characters and have a response in literally minutes. Celebrities have even made songs about how efficient twitter has been.

How to sign up

Facebook.com Sign up. 

For most free social networking sites, its easy to sign up. Simply going to the homepage and finding the appropriate button that usually says "sign up" is basically it! From there it will ask a number of questions, such as first and last name, email, and password. Some sites will ask for a birth date and gender. Twitter asks for a specific username for the online world to see. For facebook, rather than a personal site, many companies can make business pages for advertisement. Celebrities can make pages to release new music and become "online friends" with fans. Social networking sites have been easy to use in order to benefit everyone online.

Twitter is a popular social networking site today. Many celebrities, businesses, athletes, adults and teenagers use this site to update others what they are doing or any news. People use twitter from anything from daily updates to political propaganda. For example, I work at Baskin Robbins and this company has a twitter to update the public on new flavors or advertise new deals.

Even politicians, such as Hilary Clinton, have twitters to inform fellow "tweeters (people who have twitters)" her political standing on social issues. Personally, I use twitter to see what my friends and family are doing. On the actual site, people many request to follow a certain tweeter and see what they have to say every time that person logs on. The impact twitter has had was truly unpredictable and the growth and potential it has to continue to change the world is compelling.

First Day.

I chose to write about Social Networking because of the impact it has on society today. I truly believe that it has changed the world in many ways, both negatively and positively. Without social networking, many businesses could not have expanded the way they do today. For me, personally I currently have about three social networking sites and two emails. I keep in contact with old friends, family across the world and better understand the people I see everyday by viewing their online life. Isn't that ironic? Using a social network to write about social networking.
