Social Networking has really made an effect on the world

A new movie has came out called "The Social Network." This movie is about the invention of facebook and how it became what it is today. The simple summary of this movie is that, a group of friends did all they can to publish this social networking site called facebook, but one of their classmates steals the idea and chaos begins. Mark Zunberg, the inventor of facebook, was the youngest billionaire in history.

Without giving the whole plot of the movie away, it really has been the talk of the town. (Or should I say cyber-town?) But whether, someone has a facebook or not, many people have been going out to see this movie to really grasp the whole concept of social networking. With the movie released October 1st, 2010, social networking really has changed the world.

Old Twitter 

To be completely honest, the old twitter was somewhat hard to follow and because every time I would click on something, it would have to refresh the whole page. So that in itself, would make the loading process for a new page a little tedious. 

As for the new updated twitter, it is easier to function and makes things go a lot faster. When clicking on a new link, it doesn't open a whole new page, rather opens that part of the link on the side of the page. That causes less freezing and is such a nice update. As for adjusting to the new look, that might take some time to get use too.

Youtube is a site where one can post up videos, about almost anything (Keep in mind, it has to be appropriate and the copyrights). Many do not consider this site a social networking site, but in fact, it is. One can have their own page with their own videos for their friends or the whole entire computer world to see.

Many artists have been recognized through youtube and its truly popular to most people today. For example, it attracts girls' attention because there are many makeup and clothes tutorials. It attracts boys because there are many skateboarding and sports videos. It really has videos for almost all age groups as well.

A little like blogger..

A site that has been booming in the teenage social networking society is a website called Tumblr. Much like blogger, its a place where networkers blog many different entries. Personally, I have one and it helps me vent about the most recent things, and a good place to read back on old memories. At the beginning of 2010, many people got involved in a project called 365, where they used tumblr to post up a picture a day for 365 days (1 year) to show how much one has grow over the year.

Signing up is easy as 1-2-3. Like other networking sites just begin by going to tumblr.com and entering an email and password to get started. With tumblr, blogging isn't only limited to text blogging, one can post pictures, quotes, links, chats, audio, and videos. Tumblr truly gives blogging a whole new level.

Parental View

A couple of years ago, many parents complained about the use of myspace and other sites for young teenagers. There has been many reported cases of parents petitioning schools to band myspace for elementary kids. Yet nowadays, parents have been joining the social networking sites and instead of being the stickler, they have been adding their children on face book and closely monitoring their activity.

A new trendy site that has been making their way to many social networkers is a site called Skype. It makes it easy to talk to family and friends, across the world or next door, in a more advanced way. Basically, it is like video chatting through this site. This truly connects the world to show real emotions. Through the computer, a father on a business trip 500 miles away can see his daughter grow up through this site called Skype.

Social networking has affected society in many ways. For me, being in high school, social networking has played a big part in my life. Facebook has helped me keep in contact with my family living in the Philippines. I've sent video comments to my family which really has helped me keep a close connection with them. Twitter is really a great way to communicate. Simply put a phrase or question under 140 characters and have a response in literally minutes. Celebrities have even made songs about how efficient twitter has been.
